Body of La Democracia woman in found in yard
The body of a woman was found this afternoon in La Democracia Village about mile thirty-one off on the Western Highway. The woman fifty-nine year old Verrill Louise Brakeman was last seen on Sunday. She was found lying in her yard just outside her home. A News Five team was in the area and spoke to bereaving nieces of the deceased.

“Well, I mi deh back yah di heng out wid ah Sunday. Dat dah di last time.”

“And who found her body? What do you know at this point?”

“Well, I found her body. I come back come look fi ah because I neva si mi cousing wah couple days. And when I come di halla and I approach di stairs fi go upstairs I si di body down deh.”

“What part of the yard was the body in? what could she have been doing?
Irma
“I think that she was feeding her chickens. I guess when ih bend down and get ih mi have wah sway head and den she fall cause wah stump mi deh right deh where she feel and maybe hit her head.”

“So nobody suspect foul play or anything?”
Irma
“No, because when I done bawl fi my rest ah family I come upstairs and I si her money on di table and everything and the dog was sitting at the door. So there’s no kind of foul play.”

“What kind of person was she?”

“Well, she dah mi wah nice aunty mein. Every morning I know when she di come cause I got my dog eena di yard and once dah dog bark dah because she deh deh. Wednesday morning she come hail me and ih lef and ih gone. Yesterday I wonder how ih noh come because dah wah daily thing. Ih noh come dis morning so I she well maybe ih wah come dis evening cause ih tek ih lee evening stroll too. Dah when Irma come and tell me how she find ah dead dah den I know ih gone in.”
Though the family believes she may have fallen and hit her head, the police investigations continue.
