PM Briceño Reacts to the Killing of Ayana Bennett
Reacting to the killing of four-year-old Ayana Bennett was Prime Minister John Briceño. He says he is urging investigators, including the Director of Public Prosecutions, to exercise the full extent of the law. As we reported, Ayana’s foster parents, Marvin and Lena Plett, have been charged with manslaughter. Investigators believe that they unintentionally killed Ayana. Today, PM Briceño said he believe they should have been charged with murder.
Prime Minister John Briceño
“Minister Balderamos-Garcia told us in Cabinet. My heart broke. How can human being do something like this to a child and I urge the DPP and the police to go to the full extent of the law to this couple. There is no reason on God’s earth for you to be able to abuse a child to the point that that child dies. If it was left up to me, I believe they should be charged for murder.”

“Have you spoken with the Department of Human Services to ensure that the vetting process did not show any negative aspects of this foster family?”
Prime Minister John Briceño
“That is what Minister Dolores told us in Cabinet that they are looking through the whole process to ensure something like this should never happen again. So, they are looking at that as it is immediately.”
