Kevin Arthurs Steps Down as Home Affairs C.E.O.
One C.E.O. who won’t be receiving an increase in his monthly telephone allowance is Kevin Arthurs. That’s because he won’t be renewing his contract with the Government of Belize as second in command at the Ministry of Home Affairs. After three years as Chief Executive Officer, Arthurs announced the decision to step down, marking the end of his latest chapter in public service. Arthurs, who had previously served in two other public service roles, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to, “serve at a time when the country needed it and to serve with a forward-thinking administration, a dedicated public service and an army of law enforcement officers who daily put skin in the game”. His tenure as C.E.O. was marked by a commitment to change through revolution. Arthurs’ turn as C.E.O. was equally marred by strong criticism from the opposition which frequently demanded his removal from office. In reflecting on his journey, Arthurs stated, “each opportunity has shaped my gratitude and outlook to serve my country, my God, and my community”. News Five understands that he will be replaced as C.E.O. by Sharole Saldivar.
