Former Peppers Pizza employee caught breaking in

A popular pizza parlor was burglarized on Wednesday night by someone who knew the business well. Just before midnight this past Wednesday, Stephen Roberts, the owner of Peppers Pizza, received a call of a break-in at the establishment. Roberts made his to the pizza parlor on St. Thomas Street to investigate. And when he got to the back of the yard, he saw that one of the aluminum louvers on a window at the back of the building was broken, and used to gain entry. After entering the business, Roberts saw that the security cameras were turned up to the ceiling and the locks of the office were damaged. Roberts immediately called the police who conducted a complete search of the building. And to Roberts’ surprise, a former employee was found hiding in the store room. Shaun Bennett could not explain why he was in the building but it was obvious he did not return to make late night pizzas. Bennett, a resident of Courtney Crescent, was arrested and today faced the charge of Burglary when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court. Though he was found inside the building, Bennett pleaded not guilty to the charge. He also pleaded for bail on the grounds that he had just become a father, but Magistrate Aretha Ford denied the request and the former Peppers Pizza employee was remanded until March second.
