NTUCB Criticizes G.O.B.’s Decision on Increased Telephone Allowance
The NTUCB also issued a terse statement over the weekend, chiding the Government of Belize by referring to the recent decision as, “a slap in the face to public officers, teachers, doctors, nurses, police and other security forces, the marginalized struggling working class and every taxpayer. The spirit of “todos ganamos” truly means “todos pagamos” while unu full unu pocket and unu belly everybody else fu pay and lose”.
Luke Martinez, President, NTUCB
“In our press release we’ve made an appeal and we want to step it up this morning to a demand to cabinet, cabinet will meet tomorrow, and cabinet must demand the financial secretary to rescind that approval. They must do that and the teachers have made it plain and straight that the green machine ready. The public officers are ready. This morning, I read a message that public officers are going to be wearing yellow today to stand up against that action. And every Belizean must stand up because your taxpayers’, your hardworking taxpayers’ dollars are being used to pay telephone allowance and me and you know that you noh need six hundred dollars a month. I communicate with several CEOs and ministers of cabinet and I communicate with them via Whatsapp. I could show, via Whatsapp, and you have several other platforms where they continue to communicate. So what are they going to use this money for, galavant, ,while people starve?”
