Celebrating International Women in Conservation

The distinguished “International Women in Conservation 2023” gathering brought together key figures in the field for substantive discussions and collaborative efforts. Amanda Acosta, the Executive Director of the Belize Audubon Society, participated in the Women Leaders panel during the event. This panel featured accomplished professionals, including Virginia Burns-Perez, the Adaptive Management Program Director at Turneffe Atoll Sustainability Association; Kathi George, Director of Cetacean Conservation Biology at the Marine Mammal Center; Jalima Gold, President of the Belize Women’s Seaweed Farmers Association; and Nicole Auil Gomez, the Director of the Belize Country Program at the Wildlife Conservation Society.
