Sixteen year old charged for daylight robbery and shooting

In court today, a sixteen year old was slapped with five charges in connection with a broad daylight robbery and shooting that occurred on Monday. One man, Osmin Garrido, remains hospitalized after surgery for gunshot wounds to the chest. Garrido was among a group of men gambling at the corner of Iguana Street at about three-thirty that evening. Two armed men rode up on bicycles and opened fire at the gathering. They then robbed Brian Barrella of a hundred and ten dollars and left the scene. Police later found the point thirty-eight revolver in a drain in front of the Happy Days Preschool. The minor was charged in Family Court for Attempted Murder, Dangerous Harm and Use of Deadly Means of Harm. He was also brought before Magistrate Sharon Frazer, where he was jointly charged with Osman Mitchell for Robbery and Conspiracy to Commit Robbery. Both accused men pleaded not guilty and will reappear in Magistrate Court on January tenth while the minor has a second court date, March tenth, when he is to return to family court.
