Female Football Team Receives Warm Welcome Back
The Belize National Women’s Football Team is back after cleaning up the CONCACAF W- Road to Gold Cup Competition. In the six matches that they’ve played from September to now, they scored twenty goals and only conceded one goal. That goal was to Bonaire, but in that game, Belize walloped that Caribbean Leeward island, five to one. In the six games, the Belize girls bombed Aruba on our Independence Day two-nil, and went on to beat Вonaire in their first exchange three-nil. From there, they moved on to win Тurks and Caicos tow times six nil, and then three-nil again. The female football stars wound up their perfect record beating Aruba one-nil on Monday. Today, they were welcomed with motorcades in Orange Walk and Belmopan where a press conference was held. Team Captain, Sabrina Eiley and President of the Football Federation of Belize addressed the audience.
Sabrina Eiley, Captain, Belize National Women’s Football Team
“As the captain of the Belize Senior Women’s National Team, I stand before you with immense pride and gratitude. Our journey through the Gold Cup qualifiers has been nothing short of remarkable, filled with challenges, triumphs, and unwavering dedication. Our collective goal was clear, to be promoted to League B by topping League C routine. Every player, coach, staff, member poured their heart and soul into this mission. We faced formidable opponents, navigated tough matches, but through it all, our unity and determination prevailed. There is no I in team, but there is in win.”
Sergio Chuc, President of the Football Federation of Belize
“We did not have the finances for the team to travel the way how we travelled before because this competition was not projected in this year’s project. So we had to find the additional funds and you guys took the hardest route and you did not complain. We could never do that with the A team, the male team, because they would have talked about hardship allowances, and they would have talked about boycotting, and not going to the game, and wanting more money, and you guys gave no trouble, you know. You just went out there, worked with us, did what you had to do, and now, it makes football, it makes the federation and it makes the country so proud of you. And that is why you’ve been receiving this warm welcome all across the country.”
