Preschool kids preparing for Festival of arts

But in positive news, at the Bliss Centre for the Performing Arts, we found kids under the age of five testing their locomotive skills. The program has been ongoing for the past three weeks and is targeting four year old kids throughout the country. The Ministry of Education, in collaboration with NICH, says that the workshop is geared towards developing talents to improve the Preschool Festival of Arts which will be held in March during Child Stimulation Month. Dance Teacher, Dawn Adderley tells us what she is teaching them.

Duane Moody
“What are you teaching these kids?”

Dawn Adderley, Dance Instructor, Body in Movement Program
“Basic movement skills and even a little bit of preparing them for the festival of arts through how to depict different animals and their sounds.”

Joycelyn Young, Teacher, Lloyd Coffin Community Preschool
“The purpose of this class today is to help children in learning different skills and steps when they are going for the upcoming festival of arts in the month of March.”

Duane Moody
“Do you feel that it is going to prepare them in time for it?”

Joycelyn Young
“Yes, obviously because the teachers have taken a dance class with Ms. Dawn so we can take back whatsoever we learned from her to the children. So we have to start prepare them for the festival of arts.”

Duane Moody
“So you think you guys will be ready? Going to bring a good show?”

Joycelyn Young
“Definitely, we’ll try our best.”

Duane Moody
“And win gold, noh?”

Joyclyn Young
“Yes, yes!”
