Commissioner of Police Chester Williams has been elected as the Second Vice President of the Association of Caribbean Commissioners of Police.  It is the second office he is holding among distinguished colleagues in law enforcement across the region.  He explained the significance of the post and what it means for Belize.

“I am well respected within my peers in Central America, as well as the Caribbean.  I am the president of the Commission of the Chiefs and Directors of Police for Central America, Columbia, Mexico and the Caribbean and just last week, I was elected as the second vice president of the Association of Caribbean Commissioners of Police.  And so, I am in the executive of two of the commissions within our region and for Belize, that is something good because it is the first time that Belize does have a representative on the association for the Caribbean and it’s the first time that we are holding the presidency of the commission.  And so, for us it’s a very good thing.  There’s a lot that we can benefit from where both bodies are concerned.  The one with Central America, we do a lot of exchanges in terms of best practices.  We have some subcommittees and they do a lot of training.  So what I would normally do as the president of the association, I would direct that a certain training be done and we would find the person with the expertise to provide the training.”
