What is the Potential Labor Force?
S.I.B.’s statistician, Tanisha Chavarria also spoke about the composition of the potential labor force, meaning those persons who may at some point be joining the world of work.

“The potential labor force makes up eight point three percent of persons not in the labor force. Males make up thirty-seven point five percent of those in the potential labor force and females make up sixty-two point five percent of those in the potential labor force. About forty-six point eight percent of women in the potential labor force did not look for work due to personal and family responsibilities, while for males, thirty-seven point three percent of those in the potential labor force did not look for work due to school or training. Unemployment rates by sex and age groups. Thirty-seven point seven percent of persons age fourteen to twenty-four in the labor force were unemployed. Unemployment among female youths was the highest. When looking at unemployment rates across educational attainment, we see that the highest unemployment rates was observed among persons who had a secondary education, while tertiary experienced the lowest levels of unemployment rate at two point two percent.”
