Miss Universe Belize is back! Bigger and Better!
The Miss Universe Belize franchise promises a new era of diversify and empowerment under its new ownership. We spoke with Former Miss Universe Belize 2019 and new national director of the franchise, Destinee Arnold on the change.
Destinee Arnold, National Director, House of Crowns
“The Miss Universe Belize franchise is now under new directorship. It is I. As well as the rest of the House of Crowns team that is now in charge of fully executing the pageant and preparing our Miss Universe Belize delegate for the Miss Universe stage. “As you may know, the Miss Universe organization actually underwent new ownership in the past year. They are now owned by J. K. N. Based in Thailand. And through that new ownership came a world of inclusivity. There is no longer in age gap. Our women can be at least 18 years of age or higher. We don’t have to worry about our talented young woman aging out of this pageant. In addition, we are allowing women who are mothers who are currently married or have been married before. It’s definitely an era of inclusion, and it’s definitely an exciting time because now we get to celebrate women from different backgrounds, as well as different chapters of their lives. Beauty comes from different backgrounds and different ethnicities and it is a dream that now we even saw our first plus size delegate make the top cut at the Miss Universe pageant. So to me, beauty is someone who connects with our people and they have that universal personality that anyone can hold a conversation with them and feel welcomed and feel motivated and aspire to just be a better version of themselves or a better improved worker, whatever sector that they work in. Beauty is just not aesthetic. It’s a feeling for me.”
