ComPol to Appear in Selgado Trial Again in January

The Voir Dire that was held in the previous hearings was to test the admissibility of video recordings that the Crown’s main witness had provided but that mysteriously disappeared. Selgado is on trial for abetment to commit murder. The Crown’s main witness, Giovanni Ramirez, alleges that Selgado attempted to hire him to kill Marilyn Barnes in an effort to silence her from making a complaint against him to the General Legal Counsel. Ramirez had told the police in a statement that he had made video recordings of the conversations between himself and Selgado when Selgado tried to hire him to carry out the hit on Barnes. Ramirez then contacted the Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams and shared the information, and reportedly the recordings, out of fear for his life.  And today, Commissioner Williams and the investigating officer who took Ramirez’s statement, former Inspector Wilfredo Ferrufino, were waiting to be called again to give testimony during this main trial. The two officers were instead called before the judge to learn that they will need to return to court in the January session in the event they need to give testimony again, as Lucas explains.
