ComPol Addresses Beefed Up Security at High Court
As we reported on Wednesday, there has been an increase in police presence at the High Court where high-profile inmates are being escorted for trial. Earlier today, Commissioner of Police Chester Williams outlined new measures that have been put in place in the wake of Hildebrandt Codd’s daring escape.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
“Well I had made it strict instructions to OC Eastern Division that whenever we do have these high-profile prisoners that I want GI3 to provide the escort. And so, we are seeing now that all the high-profile prisoners are now being escorted by GI3 and GI3 personnel are well trained to handle those types of situations. So I don‘t anticipate that any of those high-profile prisoners are going to try to escape from the GI3 because, believe you me, GI3 are trained to handle them. And so we are going to do that moving forward until we can establish something better at the Supreme Court to be able to facilitate or accommodate prisoners who are awaiting sentence.”
