2 month old dies from head injuries

Police have begun an investigation in the sudden death of an infant who apparently died from head injuries. Two month old Vivanni Torres expired shortly before midday on Tuesday morning after being transported from the Progresso Village Health Centre. News Five understands that the child’s mother, Norma Solis, was inside her kitchen which is detached from her house where her two other children, ages nine and four were rocking the baby in a hammock. It is believed that the children swung the hammock too far and Vivanni hit her head on a nearby chair. The children did not tell their parents about the incident and when the baby began to throw up her parents took her to the clinic. While the doctor referred the child to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital for immediate attention, the parents instead relied on alternative medicine. When Vivanni’s condition did not improve, she was taken to the K.H.M.H. By that time it was too late. While police are looking at the case as an accidental death, they are still awaiting the outcome of a post mortem scheduled for Thursday afternoon before they make a determination.
