MIDH Puts in Protective Base around Philip Goldson Bust

Evondale Moody

And the Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Housing will do its best to ensure that no one crashes into the monument again and damage it, whether by accident or intentionally. Chief Engineer Evondale Moody said that they are putting in necessary infrastructure around the bust to prevent another such incident. When the base is complete, the bust will be returned to that location before the end of January.

Evondale Moody, Chief Engineer, MIDH

“What we’re doing right now, we want to build a new base itself for the structure to be installed. We will place it back at the same location. However, what I’ll do, we’ll provide some concrete bollards on the outside of the base just in case an incident does occur again, that more likely the vehicle will hit the base instead of hitting the bust itself. We will also pin the base itself to the ground because it was not pinned. Before it was just sitting there on the ground and I think that’s one of the reasons why it tilted over and fell off. So we will try and correct those deficiencies as well before we install it again. My plan is to try and see if we could get it installed within another two weeks. I have to get the base constructed and the contractor indicated that that may take maybe a week and a half, two weeks. So, once I could get that completed, then hopefully by mid to the third week in January, I should have it installed.”
