1st Murder of 2024 is Belizean-American Starting Family Business

Christon Logan

The first murder of 2024 is that of Belizean-American, thirty-four-year-old Christon Logan, a resident of the United States. Logan left Belize in 2017 for his home country and has been living and working there since then. He was reportedly working two jobs in order to help his family back home with a recreational business that he had planned to open for his birthday in July, when he would have visited Belize again. Part of that plan has been dashed by his murder early Sunday morning. But his sisters told News Five that they will continue with his dream to complete the construction of the restaurant and bar and to open it as planned, and to name it after his one-month-old daughter. Marion Ali reports.

Thirty-four-year-old Christon Logan was scheduled to depart Belize on Tuesday to return to Oakland, California to his one-month-old baby daughter and his two jobs. The American-born was only in Belize on a brief business trip in Independence Village where his family resides. Instead, they are planning his funeral for this coming weekend. His two sisters, Classique Linarez and Cindy Logan said they accompanied him to the nightclub in Bella Vista on Saturday night.  Neither of them was there when he was gunned down.

The siblings learned that their brother had returned to the establishment to pick up someone and accidentally stumbled into another man upon his exit. That was what led to his deadly encounter.

Cindy Logan

“When everybody di come outside, we get fi understand that my brother buck pahn the bwai bredda by mistake. You know, everybody di rush out cause da one way in and one way out, if you could see. One door to go in and one door to come out. He buck pahn the bredda shoulder by mistake. When he reach out ya the accused shot ah in ah ih foot first. Cindy Logan says her brother was not a troublemaker.

The sisters didn’t appreciate the fact that police had someone outside of the family identify their brother before taking him off to the morgue.

“She jump pahn ih phone and call the police station. The police tell ah yes, wa incident like that happened just a while ago. So she ask dehn, “My bredda dead? Now as the family prepares to lay Logan to rest, they are also sad for his first child, a baby girl born only a month ago.
