ComPol Says Accused Rapists Will Be Charged
A fourteen-year-old girl was reportedly gang-raped in Belize City on Monday night, allegedly by three of four men who stopped her. Reports are that the girl was riding a bicycle on Oleander Street when the men stopped her and forced her into аn аbаndоnеd hоuѕе іn thе аrеа, where three of the men are said to have raped her. Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams says contrary to reports, the police acted swiftly to arrest the suspects.

“The police officers did give the report the urgency needed. The young lady was immediately taken for medical treatment to be examined. That was done. The police officers visited the area, found where the incident actually occurred. Valuable evidence was found there. Those were taken, collected as evidence. And shortly thereafter, police detained three of the young men who did this act and they’re in custody, awaiting to be charged. So I think the issue may be that the police need to do more in terms of giving feedback to complainants. Perhaps they felt That that nothing was being done because the police was not giving them feedback. So that is something we have to address internally.”
