Three Perish in Traffic Accident in San Estevan
Three men perished in a road traffic accident on Wednesday night in the Orange Walk District. The mishap occurred near the San Estevan roundabout near mile twenty-nine. The victims are forty-уеаr-оld Nоеmіаѕ Саntun, nineteen-уеаr-old Реdrо Меndеz, and nineteen-year-old Victor Tamai. Reports are that the men were travelling in Cantun’s taxi van from the Corozal Free Zone where they worked, and were heading in the direction of Orange Walk Town. When they reached the traffic circle at the San Estevan junction, Cantun reportedly lost control of the vehicle and ran into the roundabout before flipping several times. The impact caused the three men to be flung from the vehicle. All three died before reaching the Northern Regional Hospital. News Five spoke with Hilmer Tamai, father of Victor Tamai who died in the tragedy.

“Did he say when he was leaving, where he was going, or what he was going to do?”
Hilmer Tamai
“Oh yes, because every morning he leaves to go and work in the free zone. He works in free zone, and he told his mommy and told me he’s leaving to go to work. Well, we just tell him, take care and come back, right, and he never did come back. That’s all the last words I had – myself and ih mommy with our son. That was the last words we had with him.”

“I understand he was with two other persons in a taxi van heading towards the San Estevan roundabout or that area.”
Hilmer Tamai
“Yes, because I went this morning to see where the accident happened and it was the roundabout by San Estevan. And police informed me that they were riding in a taxi minivan. And the taxi, I don’t know what happened because I just saw they roll over on top of the roundabout.”
