Foul play suspected in death of San Pedrano
San Ignacio police suspect foul play in the death of a man whose corpse was retrieved from near the banks of the Mopan River on Monday. The discovery was made in the Water Pump Area. The victim, fifty-eight year old Jorge Noe Mejia of San Pedro Town had what appeared to be a small cut wound on the left side of the temple and police say that his nose was cut off.
Meanwhile, a seven year old boy is dead following a traffic accident on Monday near mile thirty-four on the Hummingbird Highway. According to Glenroy Ferguson of Dangriga Town, he was driving his pickup through Santa Martha Village when he spotted the child running across the road. While the child attempted to get out of harm’s way, it was too late and he was by the vehicle. Seven year old Sheldon Lopez suffered head and body injuries and was pronounced dead on arrival at the Western Regional Hospital.
