E’scan, new anti-virus product launched in Belize

If you own or use a computer you may be interested in a new anti-virus that is becoming available in Belize. A Mexican company named Segtimex, is introducing the product called E’scan. Business Computer Systems is the local authorized dealer and Lourdes Smith, its General Manager, says E’scan is more than just an anti-virus; it also comes with data security features. Segtimex’ Commercial Director, Jorge Duran told News Five at this morning’s launch that Belize is the first stop on their Central American tour.

“We are introducing the product to Central America and our first stop is Belize. It’s also a challenge for us because it’s the only English speaking country in Central America. The product is made in India. The first launch was in Mexico and now we’re in Belize.”

“We will be promoting the product and meeting with the individuals, companies, making presentations and showing them how the product can benefit them, the importance of having an anti-virus and content security software on the systems and businesses so that they can protect themselves not only from viruses but from information loss. You’re able to control who has access to what—if you’re surfing the internet you can limit what websites can be visited. You can also limit the use of the information on the computer by the user in terms of anybody can come in and put in a flash drive in your computer and copy information that’s on your hard drive. This prevents that. You have to authorize which flash drive can access the information or you can have it where it’s a read only.”
