Smart offers excellent deals to attract new customers
Late Thursday evening, the Chief Justice ruled in favor of Smart and directed Telemedia to re-install Smart’s equipment on its towers and provide access to E1 lines and all Telemedia sites. That was music to the ears of Smart subscribers, some ninety thousand, who were in limbo after Telemedia disputed services to Smart. This morning the company launched its latest offensive to retain and attract new customers. Duane Moody reports.

Smart showrooms on Bishop Street and the Northern Highway were packed with hundreds of customers—both of Smart and Telemedia—taking advantage of Smart’s latest promotion for cell upgrades or to make the switch from B.T.L. to Smart service.

“We are offering our current customers to come in and upgrade their phones. And also we have a special promotion for B.T.L. customers to allow them to come in and trade and get a smart phone. There are many trade-ins that have come in already. Whole families are changing their phones. It’s really, really encouraging. I would think that at least four to five thousand people have made the switch.”
Customer Service Manager, Marie Gomez says that B.T.L. customers are making the switch for several reasons.

“The good coverage that we offer, the great customer service of course, the prices, the rates. I mean everything we do, we have the customers in line and I think the customers are sensing that and they’re willing to get value for their money.”
And the customers agree.

“I noh get no kinda good result out of Digicell in the cayes. Always cut off pan mi when I di mek wah call. Smart—I have wah little Smart weh the work good. So I decided to change the Digicell into the Smart cause I get good service out of the Smart.”
The offer ends on Sunday. Smart’s Christmas promotion starts on Monday where high-end phones will be offered at cost price. Duane Moody, reporting for News Five.
