Missing Teen Found, Human Services Frustrated
Last week, we reported the case of sixteen-year-old Virginia Hernandez, a teenager who went missing while in the care of the Department of Human Services. We spoke with her mother, Maria Moh who stated that if anything were too happen to her daughter, she would be holding the department accountable. Today, we have been informed that while Hernandez has been located, she has not been returned to the care of Human Services. We spoke with Shawn Vargas, Director of the Department of Human Services, who informed us that a referral has been made to the police regarding the situation, as they claim that the family is not cooperating with the department with the information of the child’s whereabouts. Vargas stated that further updates will be forthcoming once the police have investigated the matter. The mother of the child has refrained from giving a statement until the situation has been resolved.
