Gun Licenses for Security Firms Will Be Reviewed
On Tuesday, the Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams responded to questions from the media on topics separate from the Oscar Selgado abetment charge for which he gave testimony. One of the topics posed had to do with gun licenses, particularly pertaining to security companies that hold gun licenses that were issued when he was authorized to do so.

“That’s company licenses, those are the security companies like KBH and and these security companies, but they have not invalidated those licenses. What we have done is that since the board came into effect, I think on November 19th or somewhere thereabout, I had stopped issuing licenses then. At the end of each year, those companies would be required to write to the commissioner seeking renewal of their license. So basically what the board is saying is that, had we renewed any of those licenses in December, that those licenses would be invalidated, but we have not done it. Those applications for renewal – when they came to me in December, I had set them aside and they are currently in a box for the board to look at.”
