Andre Perez: “I Don’t Lose Sleep over My Ministerial Portfolio

When we met with Belize Rural South Area Representative, Andre Perez, we asked him what he has been doing since he has not had the need to visit Belmopan anymore. That is since he lost his ministerial portfolio for the Blue Economy, amidst allegations of a sexual misconduct brought forward by a female attorney. Perez said that it is not something that he loses any sleep over.

“I don’t want to lose any sleep on that. That is actually totally in the hands of the Prime Minister. Remember, when you’re at Cabinet, you serve at the pleasure of the Prime Minister. So I, respect that, so I don’t want to answer that question as such – whether there’s going to be a reshuffle or not. It’s not for me to be saying that at this point in time. I have almost 11,000 voters here registered and I can guarantee you that they are fully in support of me. They understand what the situation is. I have spoken. I’ve made a statement and it has not changed. It remains the same. I have moved on. I am not worrying about the investigation as such. I remain focused on my family, my people, and that is what counts every day. And that is why walking on the street every evening, walking every evening, I keep my head up and high and with dignity and respect, and the people give it back to me. And speaking with them every day, they’re always concerned about other matters. The last thing they want to worry about is about my personal life. That means a lot to me.”
