Senate Panel Failed to Meet Quorum for Third Session
Upon the postponement of today’s session, Senator Janelle Chanona, chair of the Senate Special Select Committee, explained why the public hearing was called off this morning.
Senator Janelle Chanona, Chair, Senate Special Select Committee
“As chair of the Senate Special Select Committee and on behalf of the membership, we certainly ask for the nation’s patience and understanding. We have several members that are dealing with different emergencies crises and required international travel and therefore, it was simply a lack of quorum for today’s session that has forced today’s session to be postponed. We have determined that February fourteenth will be the next date and the witnesses that were invited to appear today to give information will be asked to come at that date.”

“There are persons who believe that if they are called, they don’t see the need to come. Your thoughts on that, if the commission does require someone to come, do they have to show up?”
Janelle Chanona
“I think everybody is entitled to their beliefs, we can only operate as guided by the constitution and the constitution makes very clear what we can do and whom we can call. And I will leave it there.”

“Is it disappointing that can be avoided.”
