30 Orange Walk ITVET Students Sent Home Over Unpaid School Fees

Francis Fonseca

Roughly thirty students attending the Orange Walk ITVET have been sent home from school for failure to pay their school fees.  It is a decision that flies in the face of the Ministry of Education’s policy not to suspend students from classes over unpaid fees.  News Five understands that students with arrears exceeding three hundred dollars have been sent home from school.  Here’s Minister of Education Francis Fonseca.

Francis Fonseca, Minister of Education

“Our policy is not to send students home.  We do everything to work very closely with families and parents, students, to work out payment plans where that can be worked out.  So I don’t know, I don’t want to comment on something I don’t know about.  But I know as a policy, the sending home of students for failure to pay fees is a last resort.”
