Belize City Man Stabbed to Death in Biscayne Village

A nineteen-year-old Belize City father was stabbed to death on Wednesday night. Levan Aldana, a resident of Haulze Street was in Biscayne Village, where he has a girlfriend and a young daughter. That is also where the incident happened, somewhere between his jobsite and the house where his girlfriend lives. Today, police were on the scene to try to put together pieces of the puzzle. Aldana was along with another man socializing and that individual is presently in police custody as they wrap up a preliminary investigation on the incident. News Five’s Marion Ali was in Biscayne today and filed the following report.

Nineteen-year-old Levan Aldana was stabbed to death on Wednesday night, a few hundred yards away from a residence where his girlfriend and daughter live. Aldana was socializing with a man who also lives at the residence. Delvorine Dominguez is the matriarch of that household. After she gave the police her statement, she shared with the media that the two men were having a few drinks.

“My son-in-law call Levan outta the room and tell ah come and dehn gone eena the room gone drink. After that, my daughter tell Levan come in and he say ah di come in directly. That da like around 6:30. 7:30, I see the door open, so I say lock the door. So Levan say, I wa lock it right now, mommy. I come fi get water, cause I mi thirsty, and I see them on the step. Because my daughter seh dehn mi deh pahn the step di sing. And we gone check back at the yard, nobody there back deh. My daughter gone da the road, she not see dehn.”
The men had apparently gone a few hundred yards up the Philip Goldson Highway to a ranch. The ranch owner told us off camera that his employee showed up with Aldana at his ranch sometime after ten last night.

“I tell them, boy, me tired, me sleepy, so I nuh wa lamp up long. The man, they say, all right, because they done drunk. So I tell them, boy, unu done drunk, go home, go rest up. I gone back in my kitchen, cause I mi di eat. But when I gone back in the kitchen, I hear he di tell young bwai he want ker young boy back by the pig farm da back deh. So I tell the man, boy, weh unu gwein do back deh? Back there nuh got nothing. Soh me gone back inside again when I – cause this light daw a motion sensor light – I see the light come on from deh. Soh when I look, I see, bally di lock back my gate and he gone.”

The men left the ranch and no one knows where they headed, but sometime later in the night, Aldana returned to his girlfriend’s house, severely wounded.

“She heard a banging on the door, and Levan say, open the **** door gial. So, she open the door then, I mi deh eena my room and I hear my daughter scream.”
The stab wound in the abdomen was so severe that Aldana lost consciousness shortly thereafter.

“All he said was that person’s name and that’s it.”
That suspect is now in police custody pending the outcome of the investigation. Meanwhile, the Aldana family is preparing a funeral for their loved one. Denise Vernon is Aldana’s aunt. Vernon told News Five that she had not seen her nephew for some weeks, but that they communicated via social media very often. She said she was chatting with him just this week, but then on Wednesday night she had a bad feeling that something was amiss.

“I chat to him on Facebook a lot and he always asks for pictures. I always send him pictures of his cousin. Yeah. And last night I just got the call, which I had a bad feeling about something. And I call everybody and I try to find out if everything is okay, but I couldn’t tell it was my nephew. Five years ago, I lost a daughter da feeling came right back over again. I see pictures and video of him being in distress, holding his stomach as apparently he got slit at the stomach.”
Vernon remembers her nephew as a fun-loving person.

“He always thinks that he’s the ladies man so we talk about girls a lot. I tell him, I say, Levan I don’t want you to mess with these young girls. Leave these young girls alone. Give them a chance, and he’s goes “no auntie.”
