…And claims letter from Moya was just more lies
We tried to get the Mayor to comment on camera… and were initially told to be at City Hall for three-thirty for the interview. When the press got there, the Mayor was meeting with her councillors and about half hour afterwards, Perriott was called in. When she left, Perriott would not comment as to what occurred behind the closed doors. After waiting an hour and a half, we were informed by the Mayor’s assistant that she will not be commenting today because she does not want to get into a back and forth in the media with Perriott and will instead speak on Wednesday. It is still uncertain if Perriott will keep her job, but the popular opinion is that she will be packing up soon.
But while we wait until Wednesday for the usually outspoken Mayor to publicly comment, we do have a copy of a letter that Moya sent on Monday responding to the comments made by Perriott. Moya referred to what she says were outward lies and says that staff members were so fed up with Perriott that they went complaining to their area representatives. Moya says she felt compelled to ask her HR Director to resign because she could not afford to have the staff thinking that it was Perriott who was running things at City Hall. She referred to several instances in which Perriott went against the decisions made by the council and says that staff morale has dropped to an all time low under Perriott. Other basis for terminating Perriott includes her alleged repeated absences and tardiness, taking the matter to the media before dealing with it internally, and a failure to produce products requested of her. Perriott says it was just more lies.

“Yes, she is refuting my letter, I expected her to because if I am putting out there that you are saying this then of course you are going to refute it. This is a normal response to me. What is not normal is what she actually puts in there and looking at it it’s more lies.”

“There was an investigation where you were suspended…”
Christine Perriott
“It was a fraud investigation because you don’t have a security manager do an investigation. Secondly, there was at that same time they assigned the security manager to do an investigation of me, I had a complaint against him. So everything was just not right and you had a caucus that have about seven of them there and five of them voted no and abstained and only two of them voted and she was one of them. Knowing that it was wrong, she agreed and these are things that I found and I was like wow and like this is the person that I am supporting, this is the person that I am working for? She’s using me.”

“If it was fabricated, what was the point of the fabrication?”
Christine Perriott
“The end result; you all know what it was. The end result of that meeting, how I see it is that she wanted a salary increase and of course, you would side with the councillor who wanted me suspended so that she could get her salary increase. I guess it will reach a point where eventually I won’t be here any more… but you are not going to use my name or me for your mistakes and for your failure. You are not going to use me for that. If that is the end result, that is what I am prepared for because I am not going to sit by and let you use me because somebody is pressuring you for some political gain or something of the sort and then you will just okay, let’s use this one today or let’s use that one today. That’s what she does and she’s not gonna do that to me; not anymore.”

“Is the relationship between you and the mayor now irreparable?”
Christine Perriott
“It all depends on what she wants to do. If she changes her habit of the way she manages and the way she does things, I will support her just as I did before and she knows that. But if she is going to continue on this style and habit where she covers things and she blames it on other people and she never wants to take the blame and she always wants to make it look like it’s not her, then I guess it will never be the same because that is what has made me lost my confidence in her.”
Meanwhile, it is known that the Council is not supporting the removal of Perriott.
