Ryan Nolberto pleads guilty to beating his mom
A man will spend nine months behind bars after he pleaded guilty to beating his mother. Twenty year-old Ryan Lester Nolberto pleaded guilty to one count of Damage to Property and one count of Common Assault after beating his mother then damaging her household belongings worth more than four thousand dollars. Nolberto told the court that the assault was the result of frustration compounded by the use of alcohol. He said when he arrived home last night, his mother, forty-one year old Vilma Nolberto, asked if he had found a job and because he was intoxicated, he got angry and lash out disrespectfully at her. This morning, instead of showing remorse for his actions, Nolberto said he was forced to do what he did due to his circumstances. What are those circumstances? Nolberto says he is unemployed and also considers himself homeless despite the fact that he lives with his mother. He said he felt this way because his relatives and his mother sold all his personal belongings and rented out his house. Nolberto was charged with Damage to Property for breaking household items, including an entertainment center, a refrigerator, a microwave oven, a flat screen television, and a stereo set. Magistrate Sharon Frazer told Nolberto that usually, a non custodial sentence is imposed, but since he showed no remorse, she will send him to jail. Frazer imposed a six-month jail term for damage to property and an additional three months for the common assault.
