ComPol blames struggle among criminal elements for violence
So what’s behind the recent blast? Commissioner Jeffries says it’s anybody’s guess. He says it appears there’s a power struggle between rival groups in the streets. Jeffries assures that while police will not be abusive, they will not be laid-back in their investigations.
Crispin Jeffries, ComPol
“Six groups that we considered loosely fit themselves together as gangs and we believe some are connected with what is happening in the streets. There’s absolutely nothing to indicate that force other and beyond what we’re using now needs to be used. We will do our investigation and we will search out those we believe that are suspected. We are not going to go out there and be accused of being high-handed and brutish but we are not going to be accused of being afraid and coward when we need to take action.”
Commissioner Jeffries says he met with PM Barrow and the Minister of National Security, Carlos Perdomo, and has received instructions from them to bring the matter under control.
