Home that belonged to Brukdong King burns to the ground

14jan10-9A late night fire on Iguana Street Extension in Belize City gutted a small wooden bungalow. The building was owned by Brukdong King and Legendary music Icon, Wilfred Peters, who is recovering in the hospital and rented to a tenant identified only as Lisa. When the fire broke around eleven-thirty Wednesday night, Lisa was not at home and the house was quickly burnt to the ground. Fortunately no one was injured. But how did the fire start? Fire officials say they are puzzled and confirmed that the house did not have any electricity supply.

Kenneth Mortis, training officer, Nat’l Fire Service
“At about eleven thirty-seven last night, we dispatched and on arrival we found what appeared to be the remains of a ten by ten plywood structure that had been consumed by the fire and subsequently destroyed. We managed to extinguish the remaining blaze and we conducted a preliminary investigation which revealed that the plywood structure was owned by Mister Peters of the Peters Boom and Chime band. At the time, it was being occupied by a lady known to us only as Lisa. She was not available at the time to gather information as to exactly what could have contributed to the cause of the fire. Neighbours know very little so we have a team trying to put together the pieces together to see if we can come up with this mysterious Lisa to assist in the investigation.”

Duane Moody
“Did the house have current?”

Kenneth Mortis
“No, it never had no electricity. As a matter of fact, we didn’t even find remains of a stove per say. So we don’t know exactly what kind of activities was being conducted inside this premises at this time.”

Up to news time, Lisa has not turned up to make any claims.
