Two foiled robbery attempts in the city
There were two robbery attempts today. The first reportedly occurred before nine this morning on busy Albert Street and was aimed at a couple of German tourists. It is reported that two youths on bicycles held up the tourists at gunpoint but did not steal anything. The second attempt occurred around two this afternoon at Texaco Gas Station at the corner of Central American Boulevard and Cemetery Road. The gunmen, again two in number, held up a customer and struggled with him to the other side of the office where a crowd was gathered. That discouraged the two robbers, who fled on bicycles empty- handed. Police are investigating both incidents.
