Staff and customers at Marlin’s Restaurant robbed

It appears that no one is spared of the rampant crime scourge that is affecting our society, particularly in the Belize City streets. And tonight we have three more robberies to report. We start off with an armed hold up at Marlin’s Restaurant on Regent Street West in Belize City. Part owner of the business, Juanita Young, told News Five that the two robbers came in the restaurant around three o’clock on Tuesday afternoon, placed a gun at her side and robbed her, the business, employees, and customers of money and valuables.

“Dehn put di gun pan mi and den dehn gone wid di young lady weh mi deh around di cash and dehn tek ah out and dehn seh mek dehn put di draw pan top ah di ting and dehn search it and search it. And den dehn gone wid fi she chain, dehn pop it, and den dehn gone wid di gial ring and I noh know what else.”

“Dehn gone wid something from you too?”

“Yes, yes dehn gone wid my bracelet, two bracelet and den dehn gone wid my daughter, dehn throw di purse over and den dehn tek out two seventy-five [dollars] weh mi deh een deh. When I see dem dah because dehn point di gun pan mi and dehn tek off di bracelet from mi hand. That’s it and I get soh frighten noh, I get soh nervous dat I neva know weh fi do. Wah lot ah customers mi deh een yah; wah lot ah customers.”

“And only one customer dehn rob?”

“No, no, dehn rob all ah dehn, everybody.”

It’s an incident police are keenly investigating and they believe they’ll soon close in on the culprits.

“At this time I think we have some suspects who we believe are involved.”

“Not in custody, we’re just looking for them.”

“Some as in how many, two?”

“About two persons we believe are involved but of course can be more.”

Juanita Young says this was the second time that thieves have targeted their business. The last time was about two years ago.
