John Avery: No confrontation between P.U.C. and B.E.L.
Earlier this month the Public Utilities Commission announced that they had made an amendment to the June 2008 annual review proceeding final decision. This would have resulted in an initial twelve percent reduction in rates for consumers. P.U.C. Chairman John Avery explained at the time that the decreases followed a new rate setting methodology instituted last September. But late information to News Five is that just before a court hearing on the matter today, the P.U.C. made an offer not to implement the amendment until it holds consultations with B.E.L. B.E.L. and the P.U.C. have been at odds publicly over electricity rates but Avery went to great lengths on Channel Five’s Open Your Eyes Morning Show today to say there was no confrontation between the two.
