Mother’s Organized for Peace now “Therese Felix Fndn”

Story PictureShe passed away on October fourth, 2008 after an asthma attack but Therese Felix’s work continues as one of her sons, Terry Felix, hopes to revitalize the programme she started. But as he told News Five, the ideals of Mothers Organized for Peace will now be carried out under a different name, and the first fundraiser planned after his mother’s death is set for this coming Sunday with a basketball tournament. Its aim is to raise funds to help underprivileged youths.

Terry Felix, wants to revive mother’s legacy
“Thursday is her birthday so we’re trying to have a tournament for her to recognize the things that she has done for suffering mothers and stuff. And also we’re trying to raise funds to register her organization, Ms Therese Felix Organisation. We’re changing the name from Mothers Organised for Peace to Therese Felix Foundation and that’s what we’re doing on Sunday. So we’d like support from all the mothers neighbours and the community to come out and support the function, you know.”

“We’re trying to have sports you know, like a yearly sport then like a tournament every so often but then like from now on we di try have wah tournament where we like hold it for maybe two or three months or something like dat and then later on help out di one weh can’t go to school through Youth for the Future or through C.Y.D.P.”

It’s like eight players to a team, basketball, twenty dollars to register and first place will be two hundred dollars, second place two cases of beers and third place fifty dollars. Anybody can play as long as they come to have fun and enjoy themselves.”
