Bail granted to cop who allegedly released molester from custody

After spending two nights behind bars, the police officer believed to be responsible for the unlawful release of accused sex offender, Keon “Gambis” Williams, is out on bail. The thirty-five year old Special Constable, John Myvett, was interdicted from duty because he was charged with Extortion and Obtaining Services by Deception.  Police investigations revealed that on January twelfth, 2010, Williams paid Myvett two thousand, six hundred and eighty-five dollars to secure him bail at the Supreme Court level after a Magistrate Kathleen Lewis ordered that he be remanded. Today Myvette was back before Magistrate Lewis, to re-apply for bail. He was initially denied bail when he was charged because police investigations appeared to be leaning towards additional charges. But since that did not happen, bail of five thousand dollars was granted. He is to return to court on March twenty-fifth. Myvett is one of three officers that were being investigated after Williams’ mysterious release, but he is the only one that has been criminally charged so far. One of the other officers has since been transferred from his post at the Belize City Magistrates’ Court.
