National Transport robbed of $20,000
Robbers paid National Transport Services Limited an unwanted visit shortly after eight this morning at its compound at miles two and three-quarters on the Western Highway. Two masked men reportedly ran into the company’s office, held up the staff at gunpoint and demanded money. The bandits made good their escape with the cash pan containing a large sum of money, over twenty thousand dollars we understand, which were Sunday’s collections. According to Operations Manager, Philip Jones, the heist happened so quickly that it wasn’t until after they reviewed a security tape that they realized that the robbers arrived in a grey Nissan Maxima car that blended well with the employees’ vehicles outside the compound.
Philip Jones, Operations Manager
“We had an undisclosed amount of cash that accountant and staff were dealing with when a little after eight this morning, two armed gun men approached the compound and ran into the compound and made away with the weekend cash deposit.”

“How did they get on the compound sir? Did the security guard at gate open it for them; gave them access?”
Phillip Jones
“Well, as you know at this time around little bit after eight, is a very busy time for us because most of the employees came in at that time and after one of the employees came in through the gate—because we have a ten foot gate—the two suspect ran right behind and make well with the get away with the deposit box.”
Duane Moody
“So they came in on foot.”
Phillip Jones
“Yes. We have numerous camera on the compound and you can watch the footage and you will see the vehicle waiting; it was a grey Nissan Maxima. They ran into the compound and they ran right out back.”
Duane Moody
“How is it that they got access to this cash pan? Do you think that it was something internally done?”
Phillip Jones
“At this point in time, we are not ruling out anything, we cannot speculate. The police officers, they are doing their investigations so we will let them do the investigation and determine what was the cause or what happened on the robbery. It was recently took out the safe and it was in a carry-on bag that they took away at gun point and ran out with it.”
