Man charged for setting ex-common-law’s house ablaze
A former security guard appeared in court this morning and was promptly charged with Arson. He is twenty-nine year old Nathaniel Thomas who is accused of setting on fire the house of his ex common-law-wife, Khara Craig. Thomas was additionally charged with Damage to Property. This goes back to an incident in the early hours of this past Sunday in the area of Raccoon Street Extension. Craig reported to police that she received a telephone call from Thomas threatening to burn down her house. And according to Craig, she was in her living room with her friend Diedra Myers when she heard an explosion and saw fire coming from the area of the bathroom. When she looked outside Craig said she spotted Thomas running from her yard to her neighbour’s. She alerted others to get out of the small plywood house and used a blanket to attempt to put out the fire which was contained when the fire fighters arrived. Myers also reported to the police that the fire destroyed some of her personal effects. Thomas’ next court date is set for February thirteenth. He was offered bail on the condition that the does not interfere with Craig and he must report to court every Wednesday.
