3 charged for robbing $9,000 in cash and items

Story PictureThree men accused of breaking into a house and stealing over nine thousand dollars worth of household appliances appeared today before Magistrate Dorothy Flowers to face two counts of burglary. Twenty-four year old Robert “House” Jeffries, twenty-six year old Leon Robinson and his thirty year old brother, Barry Robinson. Jeffries was slapped with an additional charge of Handling Stolen Goods for a Magnavox television recovered by police. After the men pleaded not guilty to the charges, Prosecutor Sergeant Frank Augustine objected to bail for Jeffries and Robinson on the grounds that they are on parole and they have previous convictions for burglary. Magistrate Flowers upheld the objection and remanded the two to prison until February twenty-fifth. Robinson was offered bail of five thousand dollars. The incident occurred on January seventh at a two-storey concrete house on East Collet Canal. The trio who lives across the canal, allegedly forced open the front door of lower flat and stole household items amounting to seven thousand dollars. Police have alleged that the same three entered the top storey by removing some of the metal louvers of the bathroom window. The culprits stole household items valued at over two thousand dollars. The occupant of the downstairs, Kimana Davis, was not in Belize at the time. The owner of the house, Egbert Dugard, who occupies the upper flat was away in the U.S.
