… And another is charged for extorting money
In the other case, another police constable is tonight on the other side of the law and is accused of extorting money from a Salvadoran national. The incident occurred at the police checkpoint at mile four on the Western Highway on Monday afternoon when P.C. Andre Almendarez allegedly asked the driver for money in exchange for not writing him up for a traffic violation. The Salvadoran handed over a hundred U.S. dollars, but reported the incident to the police. When law enforcement officers searched the booth, they found the incriminating evidence in a bag belonging to Almendarez. The constable has been detained pending charges.
