Two drown after jumping into Hydro Dam

A swimming expedition at the Hydro Dam in the Rio Bravo area of Blue Creek, Orange Walk turned deadly for two Belize City residents. Shortly after three on Sunday afternoon, three friends and co-workers of Plues Street set out to swim near the hydro dam: twenty-four year old, Jair Moh, seventeen year old Javier Hernandez and thirty-two year Eber Sarmiento. According to Sarmiento, while they were swimming at the Rio Bravo, the trio encountered strong currents. Moh and Hernandez could not withstand the waters and were swept away. Police later arrived at the scene and retrieved their bodies from the bed of the river. The bodies are now at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital awaiting a post mortem examination.
