Alleged gunman charged for Attempted Murder of minor
An old beef is said to be the motive behind Wednesday night’s shooting of seventeen year old Kenrick Longsworth of Castle Street. His mother, Lavern Longsworth, alleges her son’s life was endangered twice on Wednesday and police told the court today that they have the gunman who tried to kill Longsworth while he was at the corner of Victoria and Castle Streets. The alleged gunman has been identified by his victim as twenty-two year old Oscar Kareem Usher, a resident of Guadalupe Street. Late this afternoon, Usher was escorted to Court and read three charges of attempted murder, use of deadly means of harm and dangerous harm. Usher was unrepresented. On Wednesday night, according to his mother, Longsworth went to buy some goods when he was shot four times on the lower abdomen, thigh, buttocks and leg. Usher, though remanded this morning, is due back in court on December sixteenth. Before exiting the courtroom, he acknowledged that he owes the court for a theft offence and asked that a warrant be made so he can serve the fine in jail time. Usher had also been convicted for resisting arrest and using threatening words.
