And forty-two year old, Basil Willis also known as ‘ET’ is tonight once again an inmate at the Hattieville Prison after being charged with robbery. Willis was out on bail for a robbery at Western Union when he ran into trouble again with the law. In latest incident, on February tenth, Willis allegedly robbed Gregory Martinez of several items amounting to a little over two hundred and thirty dollars. While standing in front of a Chinese store at the corner of Freetown Road and Hunter Lane, Martinez claimed he was approached by Basil Willis who proceeded to relieve him of cash and other personal effects at knifepoint. During the incident, Martinez was stabbed to the upper part of his body. Willis, a resident of Black Orchid St. in Belize City, was soon apprehended and today he appeared unrepresented in court where he pleaded not guilty to the charge. He was denied bail by Magistrate Aretha Ford. Willis was charged in September of last year following the robbery of Western Union on Coney Drive. It is believed that upwards of thirty-nine thousand dollars was taken during that robbery. Basil Willis has been remanded to Hattieville Prison until March twenty-fourth when he is scheduled to re-appear before the court.
