Biltmore security was stabbed eight times
The other fatality happened at the Best Western Belize Biltmore Plaza where a Nigerian security guard was attacked and murdered in cold blood by three men. Kaluru Oloungududu was ambushed by the trio, who stabbed him eight times: twice on the back, once to the right side of his chest, once in the buttocks and twice to the face. The forty-two year old died on the spot and his attackers then jumped the fence of the Biltmore and escaped. Because there was no attempt to enter the hotel, it is clear that it was a targeted attack on Oloungududu and his death has outraged the Nigerian community.
There were also two shootings that did not end with any casualties. The first was on Friday evening when twenty-seven year old Corrington Villanueva was shot several times as he played a game of poker with friends at the First Stop Taxi Cooperative at the entrance of the Western Highway. A lone gunman walked up and shot Villanueva to the left side of his chest, the left side of his back and one bullet grazed his face. He is hospitalized in stable condition at the K.H.M.H. Meanwhile, Mervin Polanco, who was shot on Sunday morning, has been discharged from the hospital. Polanco was walking on Mahogany Street just before five a.m. when a man armed with a handgun approached him and fired a single bullet, which found its mark in his chest. While they have detained one person for questioning in Villanueva’s shooting, police have no suspects in connection with the incident that led to Polanco’s injuries.
