High school student charged with attempted robbery

Story PictureA high school student is in big trouble tonight, accused of trying to jack a fellow teen. Today eighteen year old Aaron Smith appeared in Magistrates’ Court charged with Attempted Robbery. He pleaded not guilty and was offered bail of fifteen hundred dollars. The charges are a result of a report filed by nineteen year old Sean Rivero. The teen told police that just after eleven on Tuesday night, he was riding his bicycle on Dolphin Street when two men came running towards him, one wearing a black mask and the other a cap. Rivero alleges the man with the cap dragged him off his bike and into a nearby yard, but just as they were about to steal his cell phone a passing mobile patrol scared them off. Today in court, Smith denied he was one of the culprits, telling Magistrate Sharon Frazer that the only thing he is guilty of is taking away a bicycle from a guy and giving it back and that was on January fourth, two days before the purported robbery attempt reported by Rivero.
