Video captures moments leading up to city murder

Peter Myvette
In other crime news, police still have not made any inroads on Wednesday afternoon’s murder of Peter Myvett. The twenty-two year old was gunned down shortly after midday as he washed a bus on Kutt Avenue. Cops say they are following a strong lead that a masked man who emerged from the direction of Tigris Street pulled the trigger on Myvett. But police are also reviewing videos that captured a suspicious maroon SUV that approached Kutt Avenue from off Euphrates Avenue and drove up slowly towards the spot where Myvette was washing the bus. While the cameras did not pick up the actual shooting, it did pick up a youth in a white shirt on bicycle heading towards the same direction at precisely the time the murder took place. Police are looking for one of Myvette’s close friends who they believe can help in their investigations.
Police confirmed late this evening that they have detained one person who is expected to be charged shortly. In the other homicide on Sunday morning in which Kaluru Oloungududu was viciously stabbed, one person is also being questioned. Oloungududu was at his job as a security guard at the Best Western Belize Biltmore Plaza Hotel when three men scaled the hotel’s fence and attacked him.
