Hey Guys, Happy New Year! I’m Safiyyah and this is What’s Happening Belize?

Well 2008 is a thing of the past and its time to jump into 2009.Before we take the big leap into 2009, there are a few of my favorite segments that I want to share with you one last time. This first segment is from one of our early shows in Benque Viejo Del Carmen…

Safiyyah Mohammed
“We’re here in beautiful Benque Viejo del Carmen fort he opening ceremonies for the Benque Fiesta and the selection of Miss Flor de la Feria. We’re gonna show you all that’s happening here at the Benque festival and show you all the highlights and all the fun just in case you missed it alright? So stay in tune.”

Safiyyah Mohammed
“I’m standing here with the new Benque queen. You want to tell everyone your new title?”

Yvette Yacab, Srta. Flor de la Feria
“Senorita Flor de la Feria 2008-2009.”

Safiyyah Mohammed
“What do you think you’re gonna do for the rest of the year while you have this title?”

Yvette Yacab
“Be a good role model to all Benquenias here because now that I have this prestigious title I have to keep Benque’s name on high.”

That was definitely a lot of fun. This second segment features Old Belize, voted the Best Nachos in Belize…

Sarah Trapp, Chef, Old Belize Restaurant
“My name is Sarah Trapp, I’m a chef here at Old Belize. We start with our chips; we try to make it nice as possible here. Then we have the cheese, it’s warm already. The dip is prepared to the back.”

Safiyyah Mohammed
“Do you guys have anything special that you put in your dip?”

Sarah Trapp
“It’s the basic stuff that we use; sweet pepper, onions, and salsa, cheeses and milk. That’s it.”

Safiyyah Mohammed
“How do you prepare this chicken before you put it on?”

Sarah Trapp
“This chicken is prepared simple. We just boil the chicken in different seasoning and spice and then we shred it. As you can see, we don’t like it too dry so we keep it moist with a bit of gravy on it. We have the pico that goes on top. This is consistent of tomatoes, onions, lime and cilantro.”

Safiyyah Mohammed
“You guys make that fresh here?”

Sarah Trapp
“We make it fresh on a daily basis. We don’t keep anything overnight; we just keep everything fresh. Jalapenos, and that’s the finishing touch of our nachos. We serve this with beef also and you could ask for half beef and half chicken instead of ordering two. So if you only have money to buy one, you could get both.”

Safiyyah Mohammed
“What do you think is the secret behind pirate’s nachos here at Old Belize because I know it’s delicious but what do you think is the secret?”

Sarah Trapp
“The secret is the love. When you cook, you cook with love. Anything you do, you do it because it makes you happy and I guarantee that people will enjoy that. So thank you Belize for voting us best nachos.”

Safiyyah Mohammed
“Well, Old Belize definitely has the best nachos in the country. It has everything; you can see it. Come and check out Old Belize nachos, definitely top, top, top A plus delicious. I love it. I’m out you guys, bye.”

Wow, those Nachos were hot! Now this final segment features Royal and Exclusive car clubs…

Marlon Skeen, Xclusive
“This is underneath the hood of the 2005 Chevy Colorado. We have a new battery here. We use a yellow top optimum battery. It has a custom battery holder with a skull and some flames on it. The truck is fully customized. We have a Playstation two in there with wireless remote controls. It has three TVs in there, customized dash with LED lights and stuff like that.”

Member, Exclusive
“This is just basically some flashy digital battery terminals, high performance wires, platinum sparkplugs. I kind of have an aluminum theme going on. I have the aluminum racing peddles, around the gauges, A.C. controls, aluminum shifter with the aluminum bezel and even the wiper controls have an aluminum bezel on it. Over here the speaker and the amp work together and the amp over this side is what powers the interior speakers.”
