Special Cabinet meeting to finalize 2010 budget

In news from Belmopan, Cabinet met in special session this past Thursday since the regular Tuesday session was postponed due to the attendance of Prime Minister Dean Barrow at the Unity and CARICOM Mexico Summits held in Playa del Carmen. Cabinet was putting the final touches to the new budget for the 2010 – 2011 financial year, which will be tabled in the House of Representatives on March fifteen. The Prime Minister will also be racking more frequent flyers miles in upcoming whirlwind travels in the region. On March fifth he will be in Guatemala City for a meeting of Central American Heads and the US Secretary of State, Hilary Clinton. Prior to that meeting he will be attending the IDB’s meeting of the Governors of Central America and the Dominican Republic which takes place San Salvador. Deputy Prime Minister Gaspar Vega, will be acting prime minister until returns on March sixth.
