Knife wielding truck driver charged with Attempted Murder
In other news from the courts, on Monday morning two truck drivers at the Port of Belize got into a fight which turned ugly. Twenty-eight year old Michael Caine claims Alvin Conorquie pulled out a knife and stabbed him in his back and side. Late Monday evening, Conorquie turned himself in to police and today, the thirty-four year old truck driver was charged with Attempted Murder, Dangerous Harm, and the Use of Deadly Means of Harm in Magistrates’ Court. No plea was taken because the offences are indictable and bail wasn’t offered because of the gravity of the offences. That means Conorquie will usher in the new year behind bars. Chief Magistrate Margaret McKenzie remanded him into custody until January thirtieth, 2009.
